Jose Mourinho has written off Chelsea's chances of making the Champions League next season after suffering another painful defeat.

The Premier League champions were downed 2-1 by the year's surprise package Leicester City, their ninth defeat in 16 games And the manager appeared resigned to missing out on the top-four.

"Yes, clearly yes," he told Sky Sports when asked if the chance to reach the Champions League qualification spots had evaporated.

Chelsea currently lie 16th in the Premier League, just one point clear of the relegation zone as the competition approaches the halfway stage.

Fourth-placed Manchester United sit on 29 points, 14 clear of the misfiring Londoners.
